Psychotherapy, Clinical Supervision, and Professional Consultation
I provide in-depth psychotherapy for neurodivergent adults navigating the challenges of living in a culture with neuro-normative expectations. I find it particularly rewarding to help those who struggle with obsessive rumination and intrusive, unwanted thoughts find the clarity and self-trust that can provide profound relief. I work from a person-centered, humanistic, and trauma-informed framework that takes seriously how you make meaning, relate to others, and understand yourself. I welcome those who are LGBTQ+, queer, gender-queer, and clients from all racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. My approach is a good fit for individuals who value the deep exploration of self and experience that can help us to live lives that feel authentic, meaningful, and genuine.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

A statement on the use of AI in my practice
I am neither for nor against the use of AI in general, and I am certainly not a technology expert. There’s no question that AI can be useful, especially for those of us with disabilities, or in the generally busy and exhausting (and often beautiful) world we live in. However, I do have concerns about the use of AI in therapy and the encroachment of venture-capitalist-backed technology into the field of psychotherapy and counseling, due both to privacy concerns and concerns with fair treatment and pay for mental health professionals. I also believe that therapy is a deeply and inherently relational process, one that cannot be replaced by a machine, and that such an attempt carries the potential for serious harm. As such, I do not use AI in any aspect of my direct work with clients, my communication with clients, nor in developing documentation specific to my clients. After reflecting on these concerns, I have discontinued the use of HIPAA-secure AI technologies to assist in creating client documentation. I continue to use AI for assistance with certain administrative tasks such as developing parts of this website and other marketing materials, researching general psychological or counseling topics, and completing administrative requirements for work with my clinical supervisees (not psychotherapy clients). Sometimes, I may use technology which uses AI in some way that I am unaware of, but I make a concerted effort to research and understand each type of technology I use in my practice, as well as the risks and benefits each technology presents. I take my legal and ethical responsibilities to protect client privacy and confidentially very seriously. I also take seriously the importance of genuine and authentic human connection, and believe deeply that such connection is the most vital and necessary ingredient of effective psychotherapy. These technologies and those who profit the most from them should not be allowed to take advantage of private, personal information at the expense of genuine mental health treatment for clients, and livable earnings for mental health professionals. Doing so will allow them to erode the very foundation and essential qualities of the work that we aim to do in psychotherapy.
